There is an element of truth to this. Ethan Allen did write a book
titled "Reason: The Only Oracle of Man" (or "Oracles
of Reason"), which he called his "Bible." This book openly
took on the Christian religion, the first publication in the U.S. to
do so when he finally got it published in 1784. If you'd like to read
