Oatmeal Maple Cookies

1/2 cup shortening
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 cup maple syrup
1/4 cup milk
1 egg
1/2 cup seedless raisins
1 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 cup oatmeal
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup chopped nuts

Cream together the shortening, maple syrup and egg. Sift together the flour, salt and baking powder. Alternating with the milk, add the dry ingredients to the wet, then stir in the oatmeal, raisins and nuts. Drop by the spoonful on a greased cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees (F) for 15 minutes.
