2 1/4 cups flour
2/3 cup white sugar
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 cup maple syrup
1/2 cup soft shortening
1/2 cup milk
2 eggs
1 cup chopped nuts
Sift together the dry ingredients on one bowl, beat the
syrup, shortening and milk in another. Add the eggs one at a time to
the liquid mixture. Slowly beat in the dry ingredients, then add the
nuts and mix well. Pour into two greased and floured 9" pans and
bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes. Frost when cool.
