Maple Egg Nog

6 eggs, separated
1 cup maple syrup
3/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 quarts milk
1/2 teaspoon salt

Mix together egg yolks and a third of the sugar until lemon-colored. Beat egg whites to soft peak stage, then gradually add the rest of the sugar until stiff peaks form. Add the egg yolk mixture to the egg whites. Stir in the milk, maple syrup, vanilla and salt. Chill and serve.
