Maple Drop Cookies

1 cup pure maple syrup
2 cups flour
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup shortening
1 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon baking powder

Combine all ingredients and drop by spoonful onto cookie sheets. Bake at 400 degrees for 12 minutes.
