Northeast
Paddlers Message Board
Covering New England, Maryland and Delaware (primarily), this Internet
"club" features a message board, trip report area, gear reviews,
events calendar and a glossary of terms, to name but a few. Very nicely
done, and very fun to wade through.
Vermont
Paddlers Club
Quite similar to the Northeast Paddlers Message Board in terms
of many of its features, the Vermont Paddlers Club has a primary
focus on Vermont, but also covers other areas of New England and
beyond. Members ($23/year, which includes a 6-issue subscription
to Paddler Magazine) can share their experiences, plan trips and
find other information that could affect their trip (river gauges,
scheduled dam releases). The site is free for those just looking
to browse.
Burlington
VT Kayakers
This busy MSN group is for "whitewater addicts." Members
(free) can post and read messages and post pictures of the water
they conquered.
Appalachian
Mountain Club
While not really Vermont specific, it IS a club. Do a search for
"kayak" or "canoe" to find a variety of online
publications dealing with boat building, keeping cameras dry,
how to "read" the water and more.
Wampanoag
Paddlers
For over 30 years the Wampanoag Paddlers have been organizing
trips (mostly flatwater, mostly day trips, and around 25 of them
a year) in southern New England, Vermont, Maine and other states.
Dues to join are a meager $5/family a year. Check out the message
board on their site for more information.
Deerfield
Valley Kayak Group This group is open to anyone who wishes to join us and
meet for kayak outings in or around the deerfield valley. We are folks
of all levels of kayaking - canoeing experience, we make trips to the
area lakes including sadagwa, whitingham, harriman resivour, clara,
even the conneticut river... If you have a non motorized single or tandem
kraft and wish to get out with like minded adults for some fun on the
water join us!
Vermont Outdoor
People
Stressing that they are not a dating service, Vermont Outdoor People
exists to "bring together people with a common interest in all
manner of outdoor activities," including biking, camping, skiing
and, yes, canoeing/kayaking. You can find or post events on the Website,
and sign up for a free weekly e-mail that will update you on some of
the upcoming planned activities.
