Hyde
Log Cabin was originally constructed in 1783, and today is considered
to be the oldest log cabin remaining in the United States. The one-room
cabin, moved and restored in 1956 (with more restoration done in 1985),
now houses a number of period memorabilia, including maps, furnishings,
agricultural and household implements, etc.
The Hyde Log Cabin is located off Route 2 just north of
Grand Isle. It is open July to Labor Day, Wednesday through Sunday,
11-5. Admission is $1, with children 14 and under free. Hyde Log Cabin
