Champlain Valley Antiques Festival: Vermont’s Biggest Show
Features a large array of antiques for every level of collector.
Essex Junction, VT—This year’s Champlain Valley Antiques
Festival (CVAF), which takes place October 8-9, 2005 at the Champlain
Valley Exposition site in Essex Junction, Vermont, will feature dealers
from eleven states, including each New England state, and New York,
New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Maryland. This CVAF will be the
biggest indoor antiques show ever in Vermont, including 200 dealers,
with 40 of these in room-setting booths. It will feature some of the
finest and most unusual antiques ever displayed here. Antique duck decoys
are just one example. One of the nation’s top experts on antique
duck decoys, Loy Harrell from Hinesburg, Vermont, will be displaying
part of his prized collection. Harrell is the author of Decoys: North
America’s One Hundred Greatest, perhaps the most authoritative
book on the subject.
Connecticut dealer Lin Stebbins will
be selling an outstanding collection of antique quilts, tops and
blocks. Sandra Fowler of Massachusetts will be showing a large variety
of antique tiles and vintage Christmas decorations. Leatrice Robinson
has a wonderful showing of Asian Art & Antiques, Japanese woodblock
prints, and Persian & Indian art. Bunny’s place will have
an interesting display of antique sewing tools, dresser top items
and sterling silver. Antiques from all categories will be represented
such as antique toys and dolls, Victorian Majolica, antiquarian
books on fly fishing and culinary. From Asian antiques to Federal
style, American and European furniture every level of collector
or home decorator will be pleased. Vermont dealers Howard Graff
shows a fine grouping of country furniture and appropriate accessories,
and Joan Korda, president of the Vermont Antiques Dealers’
Association has a room setting booth with country furnishings and
collectibles from the years 1700-1840. Folks of Scottish heritage
will enjoy the great collection of Scottish antiques and collectibles
from dealer Sir Alasdair Munro of Waitsfield.
“We’re extremely pleased with the way this year’s
Festival is shaping up,” noted Marvin Getman, show producer. “The
strong growth in dealer attendance proves that word is getting out on
this show. Dealers report they love the facility the beautiful season,
and, of course, thousands of eager customers.”
The Champlain Valley Antiques Festival hours are Saturday 10:00 until
5:00 and Sunday 10:00 until 4:00. The admission price is $7 for adults;
children 12 and under are admitted free. There is an early preview on
