and other events that occur in Vermont throughout the year. Below are
some of the state's main events for the month of August:
Champlain
Valley Fair - Vermont's premier fair attraction, featuring
a number of musical acts, attractions, exhibitions, agricultural
stuff... the list goes on and on.
Champlain
Valley Folk Festival - Presents a wide range of acts over
the course of three days. Prices vary considerably depending on
when you want to get in, whether you want to wilderness camp there,
etc. Located in Kingsland Bay State Park, right on the Shores
of Lake Champlain, in Ferrisburgh, VT.
The Great Vermont
Corn Maze - "Explore the Great Maze by day and enjoy
360 degrees of panoramic views. Or double the challenge, and experience
a STARLIGHT MAZE on select weekends in August and September."
The
Killington Music Festival -"With the beauty of Vermont's
Green Mountains as a backdrop, the Killington Music Festival is
central Vermont's premier summer musical experience."
Lake Champlain Bluegrass
Festival - Rated one of VT's best 10 events of 2004! Features concerts,
a fiddle/banjo contest and a craft fair.
Lake Champlain
Dragon Boat Festival - 75 Teams representing local businesses, organizations
and neighborhoods will compete in 41 foot Dragon boats. Watch the races,
enjoy great food, entertainment, silent auction and a special tribute
to Breast Cancer Survivors. Proceeds to benefit Hospice Care and Dragonheart
Vermont.
Marlboro Music Festival
- "For five decades, Marlboro has presented generations of the
worlds musical leaders in collaborative performances on the hilltop
campus of Marlboro College in rural southeastern Vermont."
Vermont Shepherd Cheese Cave
Tour and Tasting - The cheese cave is where Vermont Shepherd ages
their cheeses, and they only show it about four times a year, so you
should really try to hit it if you're in the area. They also run a farm
stand, where you can purchase all their award-winning cheeses.
Yellow Barn Music
Festival - "For five weeks each summer, renowned artists and
aspiring young professional musicians convene at Yellow Barn, in Putney,
Vermont, to explore the riches of the chamber music repertoire through
more than 30 concerts, master classes, and educational events."
