Smugglers'
Notch Resort
Smugglers' Notch got its name for the caves and
trail through it which made easier the lives of smugglers from
the British in the early 1800's to Prohibition-era bootleggers.
It now specialized in family vacations, offering a number of
different vacation packages on its three mountains (Morse, Sterling,
Madonna). Just 30 miles from Burlington, it offers 70 trails
on a 2610 foot vertical rise and accommodate both nordic and
alpine skiers, as well as snowboarding and snowshoeing.
As mentioned, check out the Web site for package
deals, or call their toll-free number. Those under 6 or over
70 ski free.
