Scotland isn’t the only spot
in the world laying claim to big monsters in their waters. Sitting
in a basin between Vermont and New York, Lake Champlain has
been rumored to be monster-infested for hundreds of years. Claims
and sightings go back to Samuel de Champlain (allegedly) and
the Iroquois and Abenaki Indians. The Abenaki even had a name
for it: “Tatoskok.” The monster is now simply referred
to as Champ, and its rumored existence has become such a given
that both Vermont and New York have declared the creature a
protected species.
