Arrowhead Mountain Lake

Created by a damming of the Lamoille River to the south, Arrowhead Mountain Lake offers some interesting contrasts. To the south, it feels much more like a river, with light development on the banks and thick woods. To the north, it gets much more marshy, with islands and great paddling/bird watching opportunities. Heron, kingfishers and ospreys all call this home (the latter have been nesting here since 1998).

Location:

  • Located just to the east of Burlington in Georgia/Milton.

Specifications:

  • 732 acres

Access:

  • From I-89, exit 18, take Route 7 south to Route 104A. Turn left onto 104A, go 1.6 miles. Access is on the right. You can find another carry-in boat access (with less parking) across the Lamoille River bridge.

Facts:

  • This lake gets much marshier as the season wears on. By the end of it, you'll be paddling through planty channels.
  • For those who like to fish, large and smallmouth bass and northern pike are largely caught.
