Description: In 1999, Vermont CARES held the first annual Champ Ride. The ride was an immediate hit with riders due to the beautiful Vermont scenery and excellent support crews helping along the way.

We ask that Riders raise at least $150 to support Vermont CARES’ work, and the combined efforts of so many volunteers, Riders, and sponsors means this is our biggest event of the year. Our goal for 2012 is to raise $30,000 so we can support HIV/AIDS programming across the state. This is VERY achievable if you ride with us, and help bring a team of your friends, family, coworkers, and neighbors!
Description: FNLC’s 2nd Annual Bike for the Lake is a 100-mile Ride around the Champlain Islands and the shores of Northern Lake Champlain on June 16, 2012, starting from Sandbar State Park at 8:00 am.

We will have pre-registration set up on this page on May 1. Those who register by June 5 will receive a Champlain Century t-shirt.

In addition to the 100-mile Century Ride, we will also have loops of 25 miles, 50 miles and 75 miles.

The Champlain Century serves as an important fundraising and public relations event for FNLC. We want to bring bike riders to the shores of the Lake. We want to show people what a magnificent jewel the Lake is, and why a clean Lake is so valuable to Vermont, Vermonters and Vermont businesses. The northern Lake truly reflects the people that live in northwestern Vermont and the Missisquoi region of Quebec.
Location: North Troy, Vermont
Link out: Click here
Description: The 100/200 is a one day bicycle ride that stretches from the Canadian border to the Massachusetts state line. Route 100 is widely recognized as one of Vermont’s most scenic highways and the ride is routed to minimize automobile traffic. With nicely spaced town greens for breaks, numerous scenic vistas, a number of long, steep climbs, and 50 mph descents, the 100/200 is a true New England classic, and a prime target for experienced cyclists.

While not a challenge to be tackled by the casual rider, the 100/200 should be within the capabilities of most well-trained cyclists. Bicycling Magazine included this ride in a 1989 article titled “Hell On Wheels: The 10 Toughest One-Day Rides in North America.” Whether you’ve never tried a double-century before, or you’re an experienced long-distance cyclist, this ride presents you with a challenge that you will always remember!
Location: Health Center at Bellows Falls, Vermont
Link out: Click here
Description: With the lineup all set and excitement rising, Vermont Festivals LLC has announced Greater Rock Fitness will sponsor this year’s children’s tent at the 13th annual Roots on the River Music Festival.
The festival will be held June 7 through 10, featuring four days of concerts and activities throughout the community. Begin with headliners The Fred Eaglesmith Traveling Steam Show, add concert favorites such as Hayes Carll and Mary Gauthier, and mix it all up with lots of regional and local talent, and you have a recipe for a much-anticipated weekend of great music and fun.
The children’s tent has been a favorite attraction of the festival for several years. Under the experienced leadership of Lauren Freedman Whittlesey, and the sponsorship this year of Greater Rock Fitness, the Saturday tent will include activities all day for children, as well as healthy snacks.
This year’s theme is the carnival games, Whittlesey said. Whether playing games, listening to a story, or making their own festival t-shirts, the kids have a great time, as do the adult and teen supervisors.
