Ten miles north of Stowe, Morristown is one of the primary
commercial centers for Lamoille County. It's also a good location
to view some impressive mountain peaks, such as Elmore Mountain (2688
ft.) to the east, the Sterling Range with White Face (3715 ft.) and
Morse (3380 ft.) to the west, and the Green Mountain peaks of Butternut
(2715 ft.), Bowen (2340 ft.) and Belvidere (3360 ft.) to the north.
Morristown is the most populous town in Lamoille County.
It was granted by the Vermont legislature in 1781 to a group that
included Moses Morse. It is thought the name is a variation of Morsetown.
Settlements include the main settlement of Morrisville,
as well as Cadys Falls and the village of Morristown.
