Hyde Park, Vermont

Hyde Park was named after one Captain Jedediah Hyde, who along with a number of other Connecticut Revolutionary War veterans was granted the town by the state of Vermont in 1781.

Geographically, it's most notable feature is the Green River Reservoir to the east, a 554-acre body of water that has the distinction of being the largest body of water in the state that is closed to motorized watercraft.

In the late 19th century, Hyde Park was one of the major tanning centers in the country.
