Hartford is actually made up of a number of villages that can be quite different from each other. The anchor has got to be White River Junction, with its rich railroad tradition and its perch above the junction of the White and Connecticut Rivers. Quechee is home to the Quechee Lakes Corporation, and offers skiing, golf, swimming and a number of other activities, not the least of which is the long-running Quechee Balloon Festival in the summer. Wilder is home to the hydroelectric Wilder Dam (and a fish ladder that is well worth the visit), and the villages of Hartford and West Hartford (great tubing!) round out the list.
