Located in Essex County, East Haven was granted by the
Vermont legislature in 1790 to a group from Connecticut headed by
Timothy Andrews, who hailed from East Haven, Connecticut. Hence, East
Haven, Vermont.
East Haven is mostly mountainous, with two peaks topping
out over 3000 feet: East Haven Mountain (3020 feet) and East Mountain
(3420 feet). In 1999, much of the town became part of Champion Lands.
