Bennington, Vermont

Located in the southwest corner of the state, the very name Bennington conjures up many things: the Battle of Bennington (fought August 16, 1777, it actually took place across the border in Walloomsac, NY), Bennington College, Bennington Pottery (world known for their blue agate cookware and table settings). The battle is commemorated with a 306-foot monument, the college is considered one of the finest in the country, and the pottery can be purchased through an outlet store in town. Other attractions/events include the Bennington Museum and an Antique and Classic Car Show (September) and Crafts Fair (May). Visitors can also visit the grave of Robert Frost, who is buried in the First Congregational church graveyard.
