Baltimore, Vermont

At 3008 acres, Baltimore is the second smallest town in area in the state of Vermont. It was originally part of Cavendish, but Hawk's Mountain completely cut if off from the rest of the town, so in 1793 the Vermont legislature made Baltimore a town unto itself.

The origins of the name are unknown. Not only small in area, it is also sparcely populated, without so much as a church, a post office, or even a paved road.
